Reliance Jio is going to offer new JioPhone with 2 years of unlimited service at Rs 1,999 from March 1 across Reliance Retail and Jio retailers.
New users will get JioPhone device unlimited voice calls and unlimited data (2 GB High Speed Data every month) with no recharge needed for 2 years, While the same plan for 1 year will cost Rs 1,499.
Existing JioPhone users will get the same benefit for 1 year at only Rs 749.
Currently, for a feature phone and 2-year service, a user on other network spends nearly Rs 5,000, the company said in a statement.
“There are still 300 million subscribers in India who remain ‘trapped’ in the 2G era, unable to access basic features of the internet, at a time, when the world stands at the cusp of a 5G revolution,” said Akash Ambani, Director, Reliance Jio.
“Since the last 4 years Jio has democratized internet and passed on the benefits of technology to every Indian. Technology no longer remains a privilege of a select few,” he added.
