Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said the Sagarmala project can enable Odisha to emerge as a major logistics destination due to Odisha’s strategic advantage of long coastline.
CM Patnaik said that the Port-led development through industrialization and connectivity is a major focus of this project.
“We will also prioritise the Coastal community development,” he said adding that the State Maritime Board is expected to be fully functional in the coming months.
The vision of the Sagarmala Program is to reduce logistics cost for exports-imports and domestic trade with minimal infrastructure investment.
As part of the progrm, more than 574 projects have been identified for implementation, during 2015-2035, across the areas of port modernization and new port development, port connectivity enhancement, port-linked industrialization, and coastal community development.
Chief Secretary S.C. Mohapatra said that all departments need to prepare projects under the Govt of India guidelines and maximize project approval. IDCO CMD Sanjay K Singh said, three logistic park projects at Dhamara, Gopalpur and Subarnarekha are under preparation.
