Subarnarekha Port launched the two-month long Applique Art training program with focus on empowering women and improving self-employment and livelihood opportunities in the region.
The training program is organised by Tata Steel Foundation.
Through this workshop, the members of SHGs will gain skills in Applique Art that will provide them with additional income opportunities. These trained members will also have the opportunity to train other SHG members in this skill. This program is just one of many planned by SPPL under its livelihood initiatives, with more to come in the future.
Subarnarekha Port Private Limited (SPPL) was incorporated in 2008 to undertake the development of the proposed port adjacent to the mouth of Subarnarekha River near Chaumukh village in Balasore district of Odisha. In September 2018, Tata Steel acquired majority equity stake in the holding company of SPPL for development of the port.
