As a major step towards providing reliable power supply to consumers, TP Central Odisha Distribution Limited (TPCODL), a joint venture between Tata Power and the Government of Odisha, has introduced mobile compact substation in its licensed area of operation.
The mobile compact substation includes a distribution transformer, low voltage switchgear, metering equipment, surge protection and cable connecting arrangement mounted on a mobile trolley.
The mobile compact substation is a plug in type substation and require only 1 – 1.5 Hours for putting into service apart from the travel time. It is used temporarily to minimize power supply outage to customers during conditions such as failure of existing transformer for various reasons during summer.
“This is our step towards addressing the challenges the summer brings in with additional loads. This solution will ensure we are able to respond to Transformer failures within a couple of hours ensuring reliable supply,” said M. Shenbagam, Chief Executive Officer, TP Central Odisha Distribution Limited.
TPCODL has procured 8 mobile substations for quick power restoration during exigencies in urban and peri-urban areas.
